Bob & Jan Arrive in Cuenca

Well, Bob & Jan, our old friends from Oregon, arrived in Cuenca just a couple of days ago, and had a just right flight...Bob carries a couple of pounds of titanium in his knee, so he sets off the bells and whistles in the AP, but was pleasantly surprised when the Cuenca guard just smiled at him and waved him through...Here is a shot of their arrival in Cuenca.

We arrived at the apartment and took a couple of pics of us just sitting around, cooling down, and having a lot of fun taking a look at a bunch of the goodies that they brought down for us.  We can buy most things here in Ecuador, but there are several items that just haven't made the export list yet.

Thanks guys for the aviator sunglasses, lots of mouthwashes, Brain enhancement pills, leg bandages, good old Wal Mart sandals, a dozen pairs of reading glasses, and all the wonderful surprises that show that Oregon is such a wonderful place...

We took off for a little tour of Gualaceo, Sigsig, and Chordeleg yesterday...got to see a lot of wonderful scenery, lots of indigenous people, arts and crafts and jewelry stores. And, and lot of different ways that the locals farm--from like a 100 years ago, to modern days...take a look

We had a picnic by the river in Sigsig...pretty much had the place to ourselves, except for a number of women doing the washing in the river...

Had to take a couple of obligatory touristy shots of us on and near an ancient aqueduct and on a colorful suspension bridge over the river by our picnic...

Just to show that you are never to old to goof around, this was actually a picture of all four of us taking a pics of the others taking pics...

 Taking in the market...

Had a couple of pizzas in a local college hangout last night...it was full by the time we had filled up on a pretty good pizza--still think that Papa Murphy's take out in Grants Pass is the best...

And, a pretty good shot of Bob...
