A Bad Day Fishing always Trumps a Good Day Working...

I always wondered how that old saw, I used for the title, would pertain to a person who happened to be working as a fisherman!!!  Well, yesterday, we all got the answer!!!

We were having a light breakfast at the table, watching the waves, when a truck rolled up right in front of our fence.  It was carrying about 16 young men and a wooden fishing boat...

We had mentioned to Bob and Jan how the locals are able to get quite a lot of fish, just by launching their boat, propelled solely by four rowers,  with one or two other guys doling out a long line as they leave the beach, and eventually dropping about a five hundred foot net over the side, to boot.  After rowing out about 500 yards, head sideways about 1000 feet and bring the little boat back to the beach, along with the other end of the line...

They now have created a huge "C" with long lines stretching to the beach from a huge net in the middle, pulled in by about eight to twenty men  on each line...

Here are a bunch of pics to show that really a great day fishing when you are working as a fisherman, trumps everything!!!

A little breakfast as we watch the truck arrive:

After about an hour, the net is finally beginning to reach the beach, and the word is out...lots of fish...so many folks begin to show up for free fish.  The tradition calls for free fish for the villagers when the minimum is reached by the workers and the owner of the boat and the truck...

We tell Bob & Jan that this is by far, the biggest haul of fish we have ever seen!!!

A pose with one of the fisherman...

Many trips like this one finally filled the truck...

The truck left with its pile of fish, and it still seemed that there was a ton more...

Bob filled his bag with fish, and he cleaned them, and Agripina helped by trimming and scoring them for cooking...

I was happy to just be the hose guy...

Bob and Jan prepared the fish for dinner...and it is hard to describe how great it is to have such a fresh and wonderfully prepared meal--yummmmmmmy!!!!
