From the Beach to the Jungle...

Yesterday, we sort of cooled it a little...spent the morning walking on the beach, reading a little, and taking a ride North to see the jungle...

Naturally, we had to have our Casa Blanca fix, so we dropped by for breakfast...check out the heart attack special...

We seem to have settled on Coquita (a name like Coco, only for a girl puppy)...and all of the locals seem to like it.

Kelly, our other loyal waiter at the Casa Blanca, was bowled over when we told him that the Aviator glasses that he was modeling were his to keep...

Here are a couple of shots of the "heart attack special"  a huge pancake, with a couple of bananas inside, smothered with hot chocolate sauce...goooooood!!!  Kelly even added the Casa Blanca name in syrup to Jan's order...

Rox and Coquita waiting for breakfast...

We took a ride north to the jungle...check out a couple of shots of Bob and Jan wrapped in big Jungle leaves...

Had to take this shot of this young boy helping his dad deliver the 10 gallon propane tanks that Ecuador runs on...These tanks are filled in Guayaquil, and everyone just swaps them out when they are empty...you don't just go down and get them refilled...total trade price for this much propane is $1.88--not too bad when I remember that the last time I filled one half that size for the Bar B Que in the States, the price was about 13 bucks...

And, speaking of propane, we want to send out a special thanks to Bob who brought down the propane conversation kit for our new Whirlpool dryer that had been gathering dust prior to their arrival...seems that we got a terrific deal on this new dryer, but the catch was that it was plumbed to take natural gas, of which there is none in Ecuador...

Of course, the location of the burner assembly required that the back, top and front be removed, and then the barrel and belt removed after that.  Bob got the orifice changed out in about a minute...then worked like a Champ to put it all back together...

And...it all worked perfectly the first time!!!  So...thanks a million, Bob...now our clothes will finally get totally dry, and not remain sort of medium damp, thanks to the humidity...
