Happy Birthday Bob B.

Well, well, it seems just like yesterday when I was standing in the high school lunch line with a buddy, Jeff, when we began a conversation with a really nice guy.  He was a great looking "A Group" type guy, but seemed to be happy shootin' the bull with us regular types.  The year was 1955, and Bob had just transferred to our high school from Arizona...

So here it is, 53 years later, and we have just celebrated a great visit  with Bob, and his wife Jan,  down here in South America...

Our paths stayed together, as we spent three years in the Army in Germany, and went to Cal Berkeley...

Then we took different paths, as Bob went off to UC Davis to become one of California's  finest veterinary surgeons and the owner of a famous Vet Hospital in Redwood City, and I finished grad school in Berkeley and went into the Corporate world for a little while, and then off to other things (most of you know what they were)...

We were in touch over the next 35 years, but only sporadically--each doing our own thing...

Then, in the mid 90's Bob and Jan sold the Vet Hospital and moved to Southern Oregon where we had settled a few years prior...after that we saw each other quite a bit...

Here are some of the fun pictures--take a look...

This was a "back to the sixties party"  for Rox"

And here are several shots of their visit that was just completed--mucho fun!!!

Here's a shot of Bob and Jan in Montanita...

Bob and Jan were great house guests and fun to party with, and to spend quiet time with...but...we would be remiss if we didn't thank them again for being the driving force in getting us the right kind of puppy--they hit a home run with Coquita...

They brought us down a bunch of goodies that are absolutely impossible to get here--so thanks again...

And, of all the miracles, they brought down a propane conversion kit for the dryer that we had just purchased, and on the first day at the Coast, Bob tore the whole dryer apart (picture the drum lying across the room), and took apart the firing mechanism for natural gas, and put in the propane part, all while lying on his back...and when we fired it up, after it was put together--IT WORKED PERFECTLY THE FIRST TIME!!!  Rox thanks him everyday.

Just got an email, and they already have their next visit on the schedule--we can't wait!!

Lucky Bob has his second knee replacement scheduled for the day afer his birthday--we wish him the best, and admire him for doing number two, when he realizes, first hand, how much pain and rehabilitation is necessary to get up and running again.

So Bob--it's your birthday...have a great day...we'll drink a toast to this day and many more...
