New Year's Foolin' Around

Lots of really fun stuff is happening today on New Year's Eve Day--as a lot of you regular readers know, we are off to Salinas on Wednesday to buy supplies for the next week--but, we forgot that everyone and his brother would be doing the same thing today, and Salinas was an absolute madhouse...

We have never seen the stores so crowded or the parking lots so jammed...but we had a lot of fun taking pictures and seeing the traditions unfold...some, seemingly risque!!!  For example...

Now that I have your attention--this cute chick was showing off her unmentionables to get our attention as she solicited coins from passing cars...and, in case you didn't notice--this hot chick is really a guy!!!  And, is he having fun!!!  There was a mini tour bus behind us when we stopped and added coins to the sack, while taking this picture...I saw in the rear view mirror that there were about six hands with money and a dozen cameras, hanging out from the bus, as everyone wanted to get in on the action!!!

I am including a bunch of pictures of many of the paper mache figures, because, according to custom, they will all be gone at the stoke of midnight tonight, as they symbolize getting rid of all the bad things that have happened in the previous year...so no second chances...

Most are self-explanatory, but take a look at this effect...all of these folks are made of paper...

And...the President...

The underwear on the clothesline is all made of paper...I finally found out that the sign means "I am Crazy" in slang...

The guy on the right is a "Real Estate Salesman"--maybe retired...
