Thanks for caring Folks!!!

Gosh...we received a couple of emails from you nice folks wanting to make sure that we were fine, since it has been awhile since there has been a blog entry...

First of all...thanks mucho for writing...and secondly, we are just fine...

After the holidays, things have settled down to a dull roar around here, what with walking on the beach with Coquita, reading our books, and Rox doing her Sudoku (Thanks Jan), and crossword puzzles.  We still have our language tutor come each Tuesday for a couple of hours, eat at the Casa Blanca each Saturday night, and spend a lot of time looking at or getting into the waves...

I took a day to get new fog lights installed on the wagon, so that when we return to Cuenca, and reach the 4000 foot level which is actually just going through about 1500 feet of clouds...with almost zero visibility, that we might be able to see a little better, from now on.

Just to keep up, we spend an inordinate amount time reading world financial news, and world news, in general...In these important times, it is vital to see what the other big players are doing in the world--it ain't just about Kansas, anymore...

Nothing seemed to rate its own blog entry, but we seem to be occupied a lot of the time.

I am resisting writing about the bailout, or should I say, lack of one...I am continually amazed that two of the most important factors necessary for any improvement have been totally ignored.  The first being the function of "time", and second, the concept of "accountability"...

To put it another way--things have to "shake out", and that takes time.

When all this "free money" gets piled on to a failed company (for example  $124,000,000,000 to AIG alone  see this article--one of many scary ones http://money.cnn.com/2008/12/29/news/companies/aig/),

does it just go down a rathole,

does the taxpayer get a say in the management of the company,

or an equity position,

or do they just throw a lot of bucks at political supporters, and hope for the best--you guess...

And someone has to "pay the Piper"--there is no free lunch...(and certainly no free trillion bucks...)  Probably a lot of your grandkids...and USA integrity...

You may be sure that there are a lot of new accounts being opened in the Bahamas...

Plus...the worst may be yet to come...I have a sinking feeling that maybe one of the very biggest banks could go belly up...just a feeling...but, Too Big To Fail...may be a fallacy.

On the weather front...the rains came a few day earlier this year, and everything is turning bright green, our lawns are looking like putting greens, and all the desert scrub is turning green with new flowers...nice...

We gave away  a bunch of the photos that we took for our Christmas Party with Papa Noel...and are now getting big waves from little kids, and their moms, when we drive around...feels just fine...
