Coquita's Just Fine--Thanks for Caring, Folks!

Well, I didn't realize that I had left you all hanging, regarding how Coquita's spay operation came out, and my only excuse was that I was sort of anxious until today, when the stitches came out, just to make sure that everything really was OK.

And it was!!!

Actually the stitch removal was nothing, compared to the pain involved with removing the bandage.  Seems that the newer adhesives used in these bandages could probably hold on the Space Shuttle Tiles...and the poor little thing was in a lot of pain as the Vet tried to use a variety of looseners to get the bandage off.   Long story short, we now have to give her some salve twice a day to sooth the irritated skin.

But her wound closure is perfect...and with 24 years experience, we trust that the Vets did the procedure just right...

As we were finishing up, I asked the Vet if he does many of these spay operations, and he shook his head "No", unfortunately...

I have to admit that we pretty much spoiled her in the last several days, as she was sort of slow off the mark, and in some pain, and surely did not like her bandage or the itching stitches.  She got used to us giving her some of her dry food on her pillow, and figured that if she barked a little from the pillow, then we would just come along with a little goodie...

We have informed her that the recovery period is over--no more barking for special attention or for food service--it's back to a serious training regimen for her--Yeah! Right!

She has now resumed her ambition to be queen of the house, and all she surveys...

And, she has resumed her rocket-like jumps into our laps--kind of cute, but a little surprising sometimes...

So...all in all, a good day and a good result--Thanks again Folks for your caring emails...

A few minutes ago, while I was walking Coquita on the beach, Rox snapped this shot of us...sort of says it all...

We use a short leash on her, when walking on the beach, as she has discovered that she can isolate the sand crabs from their holes on the longer leash, then she sort of plays dodge-em with them, so they sit down with the claws snapping, and she lies down to watch them...not very efficient, if you know what I mean...
