"Edgy" artwork in Montanita--Some new, Some gone...
Well, I guess this blog will be the keeper of the faith for Javier's artwork at the Montanita Hotel. I am going to post a new clown today, but it has already been painted over and redone. Here is the last clown...

Also gone is the clown that I posed with in a previous entry, as well as two clown dogs, which have just been painted black, for now...
Here is what has replaced them...

I have to admit that I think these last three would do better gracing the cover of a Stephen King novel--too stark for me...
You may put these changes down to differences between the thinking of the "artist" and the "patron"...

Tee hee. I think it might also be a case of "beauty is in the eye of the beholder", because I MUCH prefer the new art to the former. To each his own, I suppose. Very much enjoying your blog, as I plan to be in Ecuador this time next year. Though I have not really entertained the idea of the coast (too hot, I think), your blog makes it look SO inviting. Thanks for keeping those of us who are still "stateside" in the loop. Tracy
Hi Tracy...thanks for your comments and kudos...I guess that I was feeling the loss of the clown pics and might have been a tad strong in my feelings about their replacements. There are a ton of spaces where both could have coexisted. Since I have absolutely no artistic talent, it pains me to see anything just "wiped out"--'course, I guess the old Masters did that on a routine basis to preserve canvass--we, however, have mucho cemento...
Please write often, I like the way you think...

I love it. These cats are great. The bird guys are great
Bob, I didn't realize there was "plenty of canvas" available, and yes, though I love the newer art, I would also have lamented the end of the old. If there's room for both, why not? You're so kind to reply to comments, and you should know that, while I am a "lurker", I read each and every post, whether you are ultimately able to respond to all remarks. Best to you both. Tracy
