A Birthday sandwiched between two parties...

When your birthday is right between Christmas and New Year's, it's hard to get excited about having a third party right between them both...and that's where my birthday has been ever since I was just a gleam...

For many years, we hosted a New Year's Eve Party at our place in Grants Pass, and it sort of evolved into a birthday party for me, also...and that was fun, and I still have many good thoughts for all the friends who made it so special...

Now...since, we already have our "head table" reserved at the Casa Blanca for New Year's, it seemed pointless to even consider celebrating today.  But Rox insisted that I should at least have something special for dinner, so I said OK, "here it is, I want a Banana Split served on a serving platter!!!"

Here I am wallowing in fun and ice cream...who said that we all don't still have a kid in us screaming to be let out--so I did!!!

That banana split was a little more impressive earlier, but I had taken a bunch of bites out of my side, before we remembered to take this shot...

I should add...Agripina surprised us with one of her special dishes, and one that I especially like, fried fish, ceviche, and fried bananas--it sounds better in Spanish...Actually, she would be just as happy to cook for us at every meal, but we have declined that offer, opting to be just a little overweight, and not jumbo size, as we would be...

Now, this B'day is one of the big ones, and I have to say that I feel better now than I did when I was 35, and I couldn't be having any more fun...

Happy Birthday! We so enjoy reading your blog; thanks for sharing your experiences on the Ecuadorian coast. Can't wait until we are your neighbors--albeit a bit farther north.
