« Rich turns 68, surfs the waves, munches at the Casa Blanca, Hangs out with naked girls--and that's just this morning!!! | Main | Our Beach is Returning!!! »

Some Mondays start out just fine...

I knew that this would be a great day when I glanced out toward the ocean just after midnight and discovered everything lit up like a black and white movie.  Broken clouds were letting the full moon (almost) shine down and illuminate everything.  The waves were crystal clear, and the horizon was plain as day...quite a sight...but not one suitable for a picture...darn...

In addition, we are making preparations for the arrival of my brother Rich and his wife, Nancy.  We will be celebrating Rich's birthday, so there is mucho fun to look forward to...I take off to Guayaquil early in the morning to meet their flight...after that...fun, fun, fun...

And...this morning when we were drinking our coffee on the deck, the sun lighted up the waves like a snow avalanche...plus they were little bitty things, so we had the feeling of being on a lake with palm trees.  Actually, I told Rox that it feels as if we are on a tropical island like Tahiti...take a look...

In addition, it seems that all of the pelicans are flying south in grand formations...from first light, we have seen flights number from 20 to about 60 flying over us all day...and they are flying into the wind!  Because they are passing so slowly over our deck, we can see the many different markings from all gray (or brown) to almost totally covered in white designs...I can't hope to estimate, but their number is probably closer to 1000 than 500.   Plus, they fly in "V" formations...'course all you regulars knew that...

Now, all of you regular readers know that I just love our resident iguanas...they are positively prehistoric--we have about 11 regulars counting the babies..and all of them are greenish hued.  When I looked up their official name, I was always dismayed that such majestic creatures could be called "The Common Green Iguana".

Well, today we were adopted by a "Majestic Golden Iguana" (my name--so there)...take a look at this guy--he is about four feet long--'course half of him is the nine ringed tail...

I guess we didn't scare him much as he chose the palm tree next to our deck to shinny up and use for his bedroom...that's right, they sleep in our palm trees...

Well, Monday isn't over yet, but we aren't pushing it...we are heading for the deck to watch the sunset, watch the tide go out, and the sand-crabs buzzing...Chicken in the oven, and rice in the cooker...hopefully, we have the bases covered...
