Church on a Stick...
This entry is featuring a really nice procession put on by a local, private, and well-respected high school. In fact Alfonso, our language tutor, sends his kids there. Now I know the title of this piece is irreverent, but what the hey, I even thot of churchpopsicle first...all kidding aside, Rox and I have even contributed to their computer program. In this country, and in most of South America, the people actually live by the teachings of their religion...
In this procession, the kids make likenesses of the church or the Ark-like building that symbolizes their school.
The school has one building shaped like an Ark, and it sits perched on a cliff above Olon, ready to fall into the sea...There are no actual classes being taught in that building now...for good reason...

Here is a picture of the actual building and the view of Olon it commands...
This is an example of how you don't mess with Mother Nature...when we moved here less than two years ago, that cliff had a lot more substance...the road in front of the Ark was not nearly so much under-cut. You can still walk to the lip of that cliff and look down...here is the view...

Here is a sample of the icons that were on parade...

These handsome young people are ready to lead off the procession...
