We make a fun trip to Puerto Lopez...

Part of the fun of having guests is showing off Puerto Lopez.  It's a nice old tourist resort and working fishing village.  Plus, it's a lot of fun getting there, in that you have to go through a National Forest that preserves the jungle from too much attention by the human hand.

Here is Bob discovering the "man-eating" elephant ear plants...

We've had quite a bit of rain during this last "dry" season, so the jungle is lush and green...

This shot probably isn't much different from one that might have been taken 100 years ago...

Plus, there is the nifty and somewhat funky, antique store along the way, where things keep changing...Martha bought a suitcase friendly icon for display at home...

Posing in front of a "typical" casa/tienda combo...l

And...who can pass up this postcard shot as we arrive at a hill overlooking Puerto Lopez and the bay...

This Humpback whale was washed up on the beach in 2004--medical investigation determined that he died of cancer at about age 28.  It took two years to prepare the bones for display.  The Mandala Hostel sponsored a lot of the project.

It's always fun to know just how far you are away from everything else...

Promoting peace is still in style in some places...

After hitting some of the shops in town we had a good lunch at the Hotel Pacific.  We like it there, because you are able to sit inside, but push tables together to see the bay and the beach while eating.  It was also good to see that they now have free Wifi for guests.  Bob was able to turn on his Kindle and finish downloading three books as we ate...

We got back home in time for cocktails on the deck...so, a goood day!
