« A few suggestions for frustrated new arrivals--Cuenca especially... | Main | A Sharp Reader asks "Did Fredi and Coquita get along? You didn't mention them" »

A Warm Welcome to all of you New Readers!!!

As all of you folks know, these blogs also provide the writer with stats relating to viewership--just about everything, except your name, city, email address--only an ISP number which tells the country, and a bunch of stuff about your operating system.

Well, when we left Oregon in October of 2007, we figured that the only people who might read the blog were our old friends, who might want to see how we were doing.  We have been mildly astonished that hundreds of other folks are logging on, also--and we are truly flattered that you choose to stay with us.

Now...a funny thing happened to the readership, beginning two weeks ago.  That was when we started talking about the problems we were having with high waves eating up our property, and what the State was doing to help us fight back.  Also, we had three days of describing what fun Brian and Shelley were having during their visit.

During this period we have had an increase of 650 unique readers added to our 30 day running stats...

If you log on every day to see what is new with us, you will only be counted as one reader in each 30 day period.  So, you can see that 650 new folks signing in, is truly mind boggling!

We got about 100 referrals from blogs by Chuck and Nancy, Cuenca Hi Life, Rich and Nancy, and Brian and Shelley.  The other 550 folks came from direct log on and direct email.

There might be something in the water, or "you really like us!"--In any event, we are flattered and welcome you, and we promise to try to keep it interesting!!!

Got to keep up with my fellow Contra Costans, wherever we/they are!!

Sorry about the fence and yard. Seems as though you are quite the celebs now.

Hi Dale...thanks for writing...

As for our 15 seconds of fame, we would pretty much be glad to trade that for the fence and yard back to square one.

However, stay tuned...we might have a couple more entries relating to receiving VW sized boulders in addition to the ones that we have already...this is not a sure thing yet, but there is a huge stockpile next door, and it has to go someplace...

It's been a long, long time since we've been in Contra Costa County--we bet that we wouldn't recognize it!

Take care,

Bob & Roxanne

I can only speak for myself but I think part of the reason these blogs are getting so much traffic is they are real. No one is selling real estate or anything else. You are just being kind enough to help those who want to know what life is REALLY like in Ecuador and those preparing for the move can learn great information. I gave up on the forums a long time ago as did many of my friends. Thank you so much for these posts. Thank you so much for sharing the Ecuador I love! Viva Ecuador!

Hi Sapa...thanks for the good thoughts...reading your comments made us much more excited about writing the articles about Real Estate hunting, and about getting our health care needs seen to...

Hello BnR,

I've been reading your blog from the beginning and have yet to see your latest posts. (My wife reads it as well.) She and I visited friends that retired to Curia during the Christmas break and are looking to move to Ecuador by the end of the year, and the information that you're providing is priceless!

I'd like the chance to talk with you further and possibly meet you during our (in planning) trip in July. Please respond to my email (scott.bloomquist@gmail.com) if you have a chance.

I'm really happy for you and all that you've accomplished - looking forward to some Eco living myself!

Regards,
Scott
