The Casa Blanca--Where "Everybody Knows our Name!"

It has been an astounding nine weeks since we had our normal Saturday Night dinner at the Casa Blanca Restaurant in Montanita...and when we arrived last night it showed!!!

You would have thought that we were visiting royalty...Hector immediately ran over, gave us hugs all around,  and adjusted our table the way we like it, the bartender gave us a thumbs up, and immediately put on my favorite Reggae CD nice and loud, and the cooks and helpers in the kitchen all waved and smiled broadly...and the manager ran over to give Coquita a big hug and spin around!

The reasons that we had not been around involved, travel, illness, weather, other commitments, and parties, all of which added up to double the longest time we have been away in over two years...

You will notice that Rox's 2 for 1 rum and cokes are served in frosty 12 oz mugs, and believe me, there was no metered pours on these two drinks!

There was plenty of people watching to do, as many tourists from Ecuador and Northern Europe were in abundance.  In fact, some of the folks seemed to have never been in the sun before.  I had forgotten that some people actually have skin as white as typing paper...As usual, some of them tried to get all the tanning done in one day.  One girl walked by in a cover up that showed her strap marks as fish white, while the rest of her was lobster red...

We usually eat after the late lunch crowd and way before the normal Ecuadorean eating time, so when we ordered, we knew that our plates were the only dishes working.  It was amazing to see how everyone in the kitchen kibitzed to make sure that it was all done exactly as we like it.  And it was!!!

Rox usually has a linguine dish slathered with an Asian style veggie shrimp topping, and I have my usual saffron rice full of veggies, covered with a Asian style cooked chicken breast covered with onions and green peppers--yummy!

We took several shots of everyone having fun...so here they are...

The kitchen was going full ahead when I took this shot...the chef is a marvel from Peru...

To say we had a great time would be a huge understatement!!!

Nice that you are so well received. It must be that you are treated as you treat them. Karma...

Your brother posted a blog on bugs/insects in Cuenca, just wondering if you might do something similar for the coast.

Cheers you two,
Shelagh and Peter
