On our last full day in Cuenca, we joined Rich and Nancy for breakfast at the California Kitchen. Well, Well, what a nice surprise! In this case, the food was plentiful and excellent! The hosts were attentive, and the coffee was served in big carafes...not demitasse sized cups...
A lot of coffee aficionados like super strong coffee in little bitty cups, but we like to DRINK coffee, not sip it, like battery acid going down...(our coffee cups at home are the 16 oz. kind).
We also like big helpings, good flavoring, and decent prices...so...when all added together The California Kitchen hits a home run with us.
We definitely recommend the "everything" special at the bottom of the menu for about six bucks. It is the best breakfast that we've had in three years...just picture four pieces of bacon, two eggs over easy, a ton of hash browns, a Belgium waffle, and two homemade biscuits with a bowl of great tasting gravy. The syrup was hot, the bacon was crisp, the eggs were perfect, the hash browns were just like "home", and the gravy had a great sausage flavor!
