The New Suite Construction--Week Two Photos...

When we left off on the previous entry, the guys had poured the footings and installed the first floor upright re-bar pillars.  Now we continue after they have laid horizontal re-bar between the pillar bases and will now pour concrete.  All concrete is mixed by hand, so far...

The guys fill the forms one wheelbarrow load at a time...

One not so fun job, is spreading the huge piles of dirt that resulted from digging the footings by hand, all over the interior, to raise the general level.

He is building a "burro", which will be used as a platform for pouring concrete into the upright pillar forms...

Alfredo is building the base which will hold the upright forms...

We do three uprights per day...he is drilling holes in the sides so that re-bar may be added to aid in attaching the concrete block walls.

Ready to load the first bucket of concrete...

Nothing scientific here, but the job gets done...

You can see that Alfredo has added re-bar to the upright pillars.  These bars will be crucial in making sure that the walls are secure.

We added a truckload of a soil that had better compression, and then the guys ran this ground pounder all over the site, preparing for the concrete pour that will form the floor.
