DirecTV wants you!

As you all know, we are building a new suite, since our first one is so popular.  As I was leaving Supermaxi the other afternoon, I suddenly remembered that I had to sign up for service for the new suite's TV.  The DirecTV office is right next door.  I expected a long delay in getting waited on, getting new service, and getting sticker shock at the costs...

Well, here is what happened!  I walked in, no waiting, sat down, gave the nice, young women my passport, told her what I wanted, signed a form and was gone in 10 minutes.  The additional cost $16 per month.  ($7.00 if you have a Sony or LG)

I was stunned to hear that the installation would be the next day or the day after that.  Well they showed up at 5:00 pm today (27 hours after I signed the paperwork),  ran new cables from my Dish to the new apartment, took a look at our present service, gave me some advice on how to use the remotes, upgraded our present cable box, and gave us a new box for the new apartment,   Cost $16.00

With so many blogs complaining about Ecuador service, I thought I would tell about my experience to balance things out...

If that's not enough, last month I had heard that the combined companies of Alegro and CNT were offering high enough speed internet, and land line phone service for an astonishing price of $24 per month for both.  I figured that this was just a silly rumor, cause everyone knows that "land-line phones are notoriously hard to get" and "internet service costs a lot more that $24/mo"

Well, I walked into the office, took a number, was waited on by a very nice young lady, signed some papers, and walked out.  Two days later, they ran phone lines in from the street and we had a land line phone...  Then they said that another crew would come in about two weeks to hook up internet service.  In two weeks,  a crew showed up, and not only hooked us up, and got our computers to have a friendly handshake, but they provided a free high speed router, to boot!

Cost for all of this...ZERO!

The internet is fast enough to watch movies without the jerkiness...except right after school, when every kid in the world is upgrading his Facebook account or IMing that cute person who doesn't talk to them in class...

And it is true...that the cost is $24/mo...I paid our first bill last week and it was 31 bucks, 'cause of the taxes...

So...am I high in Euuador--Si', higher than a kite!!!

Whoever owns that Direct TV franchise is going to reap the rewards of prompt and honest service. I hope it's an Ecuadorian :)

Hi Tom...We live at the Coast, 3 km south of the famous surf spot of Montanita. DirecTV and Alegro/CNT each have offices in La Libertad, an hour's drive to the south.
