« Doings at the Beach as we "get ready" to "get ready"... | Main | Flying Manta Rays--Oh Sure!!! »

Flyin' low, just tryin' ta keep up!!!

We are in a whirlwind of activity trying to get ready for the Kid's Christmas Party, and squeeze in trips to Cuenca, Manta, Salinas, Guayaquil, and assorted stops in-between.

Here are some shots taken in the last few days, when we could slow down long enough to take a shot..

Driving through the Cajas National Forest, we were treated to our first look at a bunch of the new baby llamas for this season...cuuuuuute!!!

Here's a shot of three young boys, taking home a bag of fish for the night's dinner for their families...responsibility is heaped on young shoulders early here in Ecuador...

As I was exiting the house to take Coquita for her early morning walk, I was lucky enough to see this "burning tree" sunrise...

The windows are all custom made in La Libertad--this time we are using PVC in the hopes that the ongoing, onshore flow of salt air will not wear them down so fast...

Here is the engineer and owner of the company making sure that his "babies" arrive safely--this week he returns to install them all...

Today was a big day...as we saw the first floor tile being installed...here is a shot of the "float" that was laid down the night before...(that's a layer of cement covering the new concrete floor).

Here, we see the inaugural tile being laid, after all the snap lines had been squared off in each direction...

The guys soak the tiles overnight, so they will adhere better when laid down, and not suck out all the moisture in the Bondex...

While four guys were laying tile, two were building the uprights for the stair banisters...

These two are finishing up the back wall of the garage, and preparing the window opening for next week's installation...

Near the end of the day, the guys were still working after the nine hour day, even after we served up a round of beer, because they all know that we are running critically short on time and even shorter on manpower...

We were lucky enough to have Manual this Saturday, to get a head start on the bathroom--the other guys will continue on with this part next week...

Here's a couple of shots of part of the crew, after the long sixth day of their workweek...(we pay them for their regular week on Friday night, and then pay them again on Saturday for another day...)

Just had to show a shot of one of the more obvious reasons that one relinquishes the right of way, even though he has it...

Candace and Tom are settling into the suite, and are enjoying our great weather, the sun, and the sand, and the surf...

Here is the shot of our beach looking North...the outcropping that you see in the distance is the famous surf break of Montanita...

Please stop posting pics of the beach outside your place. It's 3 long months until we're there, and you're not helping these days go by any faster. ;-)

Hi Al...Shepherds are great dogs...just a little hard to tuck under your arm, or under an airline seat...
In the shots you mention, Coquita is on the adjacent deck supervising our visit...
Thanks for the good vibes,

Bob & Rox
