Our SUV is rated as a 3/4 ton vehicle, but we were bustin' the axles as we loaded up for the Kid's Christmas Party. I could see right over the top of the car, when normally that sight is four inches higher!
We now have 80 kilograms of animal crackers or 176 pounds of the little buggers...
Take a look at the other stuff that is getting jammed into three carts...
The Coral department store in Cuenca is far and away the best place to buy candy and goodies for the kids...this year, each candy baggie will have a gold silver dollar made of foil wrapped chocolate--yum!
In my cart, you can see some of the 44 pound bags of animal crackers, and a bag of "gold coins"...
The generosity of you readers is just terrific! You all are keeping us even on expenditures and we thank you muchisimo!!!
What we need now is to lay on our helpers for the party...this will entail paying the daily wage for about 11 construction workers (our guys who did such a good job last year).
We need to buy 500 wieners and 500 custom cooked buns (10 cents each, but good), tons of mayo, mustard, and catsup. Little baggies of chips, and 50 3 liter bottles of soft drinks.
We serve all this up on paper plates and plastic cups and plastic utensils.
We rent tables and chairs to seat most of the people.
We give each child a color 5 x 7 inch picture of his or her visit with Papa Noel
Roxanne presents token gifts to all of the ladies who work so hard in the back to make all those hot dog plates appear in such short order. (and it's hot in there!)
So...if you've been wondering if we might need a little more help to pay for all of this, you are right!
You may be sure that there is no place else where your money will bring such huge smiles to so many children!!!
If you want to participate this year, please send some dough to our PayPal account, which is
firstname.lastname@example.org the same as our email address...
Thanks again to all of you...
