« We get a new deck--The Suite gets a brand new beach-side Patio... | Main | The New Deck is on the Home Stretch! »

It's more than fitting, that our great work crew, be our first deck guests!

This Friday, our work crew worked doubly hard, if that's possible.  We had nice folks checking into the Suite, and everything had to be perfect.

This meant that the guys had to finish the last of the plastering down below, and had to clean all the huge tile patio, of all residual concrete, dust, dirt, sand, footprints, and paint.

They also had to paint everything with two coats of bright white exterior latex.  And they had to add another coat of oil based chocolate stain to the new railing.

Alfredo, our foreman spent the morning sitting on the downstairs tile, chipping away at the fallen concrete with a metal spatula--and the last hour of the day, mopping and polishing the new tile on the new upstairs deck.  Just goes to show that he is a true "do the least glamorous job" type of leader!

When I was lining up this shot, I had five guys in it--all working like mad--but they moved...

Our plans call for the guys to square up the area to the right of that ladder, and build a raised patio for the enjoyment of our guests in the downstairs suite.

Here's a shot of Rox and Alfredo posing with the new, custom-made deck furniture...This was specially ordered from our favorite wicker shop in Montecristi...just east of Manta.

And finally, here are several shots of the guys who made it happen--enjoying a brew, where there was just a lot of air, four weeks ago...

This is the same shot without the bar-b-que...

If you scroll back through the previous five or six entries, you will see how nifty this finished deck looks, compared to the mayhem endemic with all construction projects...plus you will see a step-by-step photo essay of how to build your own deck!

We can't thank this great crew enough, for those many grueling, nine hour days...
