This Year we celebrated Valentine's Day for a WEEK!!!

This year,  Roxanne and I celebrated Valentine's Day with our usual special brunch, which included most of the good stuff we like in a breakfast menu...

Through the course of meal, we watched pelicans cruising along the tops of the breaking waves,  and we saw fishermen pulling in a huge net by hand.  The weather was perfect...

Our topics of conversation skirted all over the place, from world, US, and SA current events, to lots of fun stuff that we have done since we first met over 48 years ago...

We concluded brunch telling each other how glad we are to be here in Ecuador, and how much we still love our decision to move here seven years ago...

and...that was pretty much it...we thought...

Not to be...

Later in the afternoon, we heard a muffled knock on our door and were astounded to see part of our resident family, standing there with all kinds of goodies to help us celebrate the day...

They even brought us a red rose from their garden...see it resting between my teeth...

The platter held a huge amount of breaded and sauteed corvina, banana chips, and not pictured a ceviche-like salad.

Here a a shot of the cake wishing us a "happy day of love and friendship"

The reason that we celebrated the occasion for a week, is that it took that long to polish off this fun torta!!!

We had a wonderful Valentine's Day sunset...

Here's Rox painted gold by the reflected light...

And another shot of the sunset...not a bad day all around!!!
